Scottsdale Stories & Sweets - Part 1

History of the Community Design Studio

Join us for a unique Scottsdale storytelling session as you nibble on delicious dates from local Old Town business, Sphinx Date Company. Be amazed as tale teller, Bruce Wall presents the history of the Community Design Studio and artwork found throughout this special building.

The Community Design Studio is likely a building you’ve passed many times. Located on the northeast corner of Indian School Rd and 75th St, this iconic building has had many lives and is home to several quirky and fun public art pieces. 70 years ago, the Ascension Lutheran Church opened for Sunday service, but quickly outgrew the building and moved away. During this presentation, learn how the building was used for 30 years prior to the city purchasing it, and how it is used today.

Presented by the City of Scottsdale, and Citizen Advisor, Bruce Wall. All ages welcome! Treats available while supplies last.

It was only fitting to partner with Sphinx Date Company for a storytelling session dedicated to things that have a long history in our community! Sphinx Date Company has been an Arizona institution for over 70 years and offers fresh locally-sourced dates and edible gifts, with a traditional family approach.
