Juneteenth Community Celebration

The City of Scottsdale and the local nonprofit group, GenerationBLK, invite you to this free event, “JUNETEENTH FREEDOM CELEBRATION”.   This will be held at the beautiful McCormick-Stillman Railroad park on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Carpooling is highly encouraged as parking is limited.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  Juneteenth is the only holiday that commemorated the abolition of slavery, more specifically the emancipation of enslaved Africans throughout the United State of America.

The event will feature relay races and other games, inflatable jump houses, local performers and DJ music, raffles, cake walk, snow cones, hotdogs and historical cultural education.  The park also has other amenities such as train rides and rides on the Scottsdale Charros Merry-go-round for $3 per rider.

Food from AZ BBQ Shack will be available for purchase or you can bring your own picnic basket!

Beer permits can be purchased at  https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/special-events/special-event-liquor
